Guide To Eden Prairie Girl Scout Events

Event Timing Description
Campler

August This summer event is held in the week between when Eden Prairie EPIC Camps stop running and school hasn’t started yet. Campler runs 9am-4pm Monday-Thursday and is held at Prairie School of Dance. It is open to both Girl Scouts and the public to register. Troops lead campers in a 3 hour activity in the morning or afternoon. This event is staffed by CPR trained volunteers from the Eden Prairie Girl Scout Community.
Fall Encampment

October This camping event is held in October and is an event focused on outdoor skills. This event is open to Daisies and Brownies as a Day Camp option and as an 1-2 day overnight for Juniors and up. Rotations are led by volunteers to teach troops things like fire building, campfire cooking, whittling and more!
Juliette Gordon Low’s
Birthday

October 31st We hold an event around Juliette Gordon Low’s Birthday to celebrate the person who paved the way for current Girl Scouts. Troops volunteer to set up activity stations like Girl Scout Trivia, Halloween crafts, and creating Birthday Bags for PROP. There is always a station to try out a headstand as Juliette Gordon Low would do a headstand every year on her birthday.
Operation Christmas Child

Nov/Dec This event is held in November or December of each year and is open to all age levels. The service unit works with Samaritan’s Purse and holds an afternoon event of service. Boxed of goodies and needed items are packed for children around the world who may not have anything but the clothes on their backs. The boxes are packed with love from the Eden Prairie GIrl Scouts. Supplies are provided for this event.
Winter Encampment

January This camping event is held in January and has a new theme every year! Junior and order troop lead activities that fit the year’s theme. This event is open to Daisies and Brownies as a Day Camp option and as an 1-2 day overnight for Juniors and up. There are also big group events like Karaoke and Bingo.
Craft Boutique

February This event is held in February and is open to all age levels. This event is one of our top three events. All troops that attend made some sort of craft item/s - at least 50 of one item. Prices range from $1-$5 per item. They could be pet rocks, firestarters, jewelry, homemade candy - anything crafty. Each girl comes to the event with a sealed envelope with anywhere from $5 to $20 maximum in it. This money comes from home - not the troop. The girls are able to shop the room for gifts for family, friends and teachers. No money ever exchanges hands - all sales are calculated on the outside of the envelope. The money is collected at the end of the event and goes to the troop(s) running the event to help them with their Bronze/Silver/Gold Award project.
World Thinking Day

Late Winter/Early Spring This event is typically held between the months of February and April and is open to all age levels. World Thinking Day has a new theme every year. These themes can be things such as helping the environment, fighting poverty, achieving gender equality, or making sure everyone has access to education. During this event, Girl Scouts will honor their global community by doing activities around this special theme.
